About Us

Cavendish University Zambia (CUZ) is the first private University in Zambia and was established in 2004. CUZ is registered under the Higher Education Act NO. 4 of 2013 of the Laws of Zambia. Our professional courses are based on a student-centric Academic Model that deploys innovation and global best practices in its pedagogy, philosophy, operations and organization. Lecturers and professors at CUZ are trained to facilitate learning in ways that are innovative, student-centric, participatory, active and practical. CUZ deploys a learning management technology platform (CULPTM ) that supports blended learning, flipped classrooms, projects, case studies, distance learning, and other forms of effective, collaborative and active learning.

CUZ offers market-relevant and accredited academic programmes which are hosted in its four Schools: School of Medicine, School of Law, School of Business and Information Technology (B.I.T), and School of Arts, Education and Social Sciences (A.E.S.S.). All CUZ schools and faculties are oriented towards fulfilling the University's Mission to transform and inspire students to reach their full potential in employment, entrepreneurship and ethical leadership.

Governance and Administration

The Governance of Cavendish University Zambia is structured according to the requirements of the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013 of the Laws of Zambia and the Statutes of Cavendish University Zambia.

Council
The Council governs the University and is constituted according to the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013 of the Laws of Zambia. The responsibilities of Council include determining the vision, mission, objectives, goals, strategies and policies of the University. The Council is also responsible for maintaining an ethical and efficient environment that is conducive to the fulfilment of the mission of the University and the financial sustainability of the University.

Senate
The Senate is responsible for all academic affairs of the University and is constituted according to the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013 of the Laws of Zambia and the statutes of University.

Chancellor
The Chancellor is the titular head of the University and is responsible for conferring degrees and awards of the University at graduation.

Vice Chancellor
The Vice Chancellor is the Chair of Senate, the Secretary to the Council and the head of the University.

Executive Director
The Executive Director is the head of operations of the University and works collaboratively with the Vice Chancellor on the day to day leadership of the University.
